THIS BEGGING IS TOO MUCH!

Philippians 4: 6 ; Hebrews 4: 16 ; Matthew 7:7

Not until recently did a profound insight hit me as it relates to obtaining answers from God for healing, provisions, protection, etc. This has to do with the type of prayer being rendered, and in what context.

It would seem most Christians are beggarly in their prayers, and approach to the throne. You hear prayers like “God please, heal my daughter, this sickness is wrecking her body, please Lord, help me; if it is your will, you can do it”. Or “God I am begging you to please provide food for me to feed my family; please do not let us go hungry”. This attitude suggests a complete misunderstanding of who God is, or what His word says.

The Bible encourages us to ‘come boldly to the throne of grace, and obtain whatever help we need (paraphrased slightly). This suggests an attitude of confidence, fully aware that God is more than willing to meet our needs. The Bible assures us that God will supply all our needs according to His riches in Glory (Philippians 4: 6); there’s no need to beg God for what He already promised to do!

The best way to approach God with our requests is to lay hold on His promises; come into agreement with what the Bible says, and make faith declarations based on His word. When God is reminded of His promises regarding any situation, and we come into alignment with His word, God’s power is activated to accomplish whatever we desire of Him.

Folks, let us stop begging God to fulfil His promises; there is so much begging going on, “God please this; God please that” – this begging is too much! it’s time to come boldly before our heavenly father, He is faithful, able, and committed to His word. Whatever the need is, remember God is a good Father, and has already made provisions in His word to fulfil our requests.

Song: By Chris Tomlin

You’re a good, good father
It’s who you are, it’s who you are, it’s who you are
And I’m loved by you
It’s who I am, it’s who I am, it’s who I am

I’ve seen many searching for answers far and wide
But I know we’re all searching
For answers only you provide
‘Cos you know just what we need
Before we say a word
