THE OBJECT OF OUR FAITH

Jeremiah 10: 12; 32:17;  Psalm 66:7

‘It is he who made the earth by his power, who established the world by his wisdom, and by his understanding stretched out the heavens’.

‘Ah, Lord God! Behold, You have made the heavens and the earth by Your great power and outstretched arm. There is nothing too hard for You’.

There are so many articles and discussions on this subject called Faith. Many passages in the Bible address this subject matter as an inevitable element of our walk with God. A closer look at most of the Bible stories reveal that an element of faith is required in the conquest of life’s battles.

This article presents faith from a perspective that reinforces the basis of our conviction. This is the underlying force behind what we believe – it is henceforth referred to as ‘the object of our faith’. Faith can be perceived as risky, dangerous, stupid, or even illogical; however, the most important aspect is the object (or subject) on which we stand on.

The object of our faith is the substance on which we place our confidence; that is, the what (or who) on which we put our trust. For instance, when we take a pill, consciously or not, we have placed our faith either on the active ingredients in the pill, or the pharmaceutical company that manufactured the drug – this is the object of that faith in this case.

From a religious perspective, the object of faith is usually the God (or gods) on whom we place our confidence and trust. This becomes the ‘force’ backing up our conviction and motivating our actions. Reflecting further, you’ll discover that as different religious people demonstrate faith in their respective gods (or God), they indirectly invoke the ‘power’ associated with the god (or God) of their faith.

As Christians the object of our faith is the Almighty God! The creator of heaven and earth, the everlasting arm that upholds the universe, the ancient of days, the King of kings and Lord of lords, the matchless/ageless/ and timeless God, The One that is Omnipotent (can do All things), and Omniscient (knows All things). The Master of the universe, The One angels worship, The God demons bow to, The Alpha and Omega.

As we stand by faith on His word for whatever situation facing us, we invoke His power, conjure His abilities, beseech His mercy, entreat His love, solicit His help, and implore His potentials/capabilities. He knows no impossibilities, and has never lost a battle. He is stronger than a locomotive, and faster than a speeding bullet! There has never been a question baffling the mind of our God; never been a problem beyond His power.  He is worthy of our confidence and trust.

So when we put our faith in God, and His Word; the ‘Who’, backing us up, is the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Great Deliverer, the Great Physician, the Rock of Ages, the Bishop of our souls, the Minister in the Sanctuary, the Governor among the nations, the Fountain of life – His name is YAHWEH! He is the object of our faith!

Hallelujah! Very inspired article as The Almighty Has been speaking to me presently, from various sources including directly impressing it on my spirit, about faith and its paramount necessity in my walk with Him.
Thank you very much!

We have absolute faith in so many things, because someone we trust tells us or because it has proven itself. Yet at times faith in the Almighty is a struggle even though He has proven Himself over and over again. Lord forgive us. Help us to walk in Your ways. Be obedient. Follow You wherever You lead us. In the Mighty Name of Jesus. Thank you.
