About Me

Homeless children on the streets of the major cities is not just in other parts of the world Проститутки Измир any more. A growing number of young people are caught in the trap of poverty, disease, prostitution and substance abuse in the cities of the United States. Many of these children are in their early teens and have come from unhappy home environments. To the street children numbers, add the many children who are part of homeless families, and the problem of children with inadequate care and supervision becomes an embarrassment to society.

Children run away from home for many reasons. There may be an adolescent period of rebellion and defiance. Parents may be viewed as overly strict. For some children, the thought of going to a large metropolitan area for the work or excitement or sense of adventure is the reason for leaving home. Teens may become too bored with life in a small town and decide that life would be more exciting in the city. A teen may feel that they are committed some act that will get them in trouble with the parents or legal authorities and decide to run away to a place where they will not be known.

When entire families are homeless, the children are still dependent upon the parents to provide support. Sometimes the parents have nowhere to turn for help. Stresses on such a family can be tremendous. The children may not understand why they don’t have enough to eat or why they are living in a car. Older children may feel responsible for the family’s financial woes, or they may complain and whine about the hardships. This puts additional stresses on parents. Living in a shelter is a poor environment for a child and parents, but may be the only option available for families.

For children who are homeless, day-to-day survival is difficult. Many turn to crime, stealing food or items that can be sold to purchase food. If a child enters the twilight world of drugs, ever more money is needed to feed the desire for drugs. The child may hook up with others and work as part of a gang or group. Many teens and children are ensnared by those who would use them for prostitution. Often the joint problems of drugs, crime and prostitution go together. Once a child has become addicted to drugs it is hard to reach them. There is already a mistrust of most if not all adults. Drug can feed on that paranoia.

In an effort to belong to a group or to feel loved, or simply to feed themselves, many children on the streets will be sucked into prostitution. Both young girls and young boys can be taken in by by need for food, a warm place to sleep and often, a way to feed the drug habit. Pimps can be physically abusive, but many prostitutes are dependent upon the pimp for a sense of belonging as well as for creature comforts.

Disease is a common result of living on the street for children who are homeless. They don’t get proper nutrition, they may fall ill from improper hygiene. Often those who get into prostitution will end up with sexually transmitted diseases. If they are into drugs, the sharing of needles can lead to AIDs or HIV-positive condition. Without access to medical care and treatment, the diseases can be much more likely to result in death. Addiction to drugs is hard to break, even with proper treatment. Although there are few treatment programs directed at this segment of society, they are few and far between. The child may have no idea where to turn for assistance.

If a child is doing poorly in school before making the break with parents or home, it is more than likely that he or she won’t return to school. Interrupted and poor education means that there is likely to be little chance to climb out of the social and economic condition. If you do not know about the broader world, you have no desire to be part of it. A child in this situation may be street smart, but that is not an experience base that will prepare him for holding a job or interacting with others in a positive and responsible way.

To get homeless youth services in NJ, there homeless children programs in some of the larger cities are sponsored by a few government agencies, but are more likely to be an effort that grows up around an individual who wants to make a difference. Funding for all such programs is being decreased due to economic pressures.
