ARE YOU RESTING OR WRESTLING?

Isaiah 26:3

“You will keep in perfect peace, those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you”.

Resting in God, and trusting in His promises, is a proven formula for peace – when faced with life’s challenges and difficulties. It does not matter what the issue is; we have to be rest assured that God knows about it, and is able to take care of the situation.

To rest in God means you are not: losing sleep over it, trying to fix it in your own wisdom, being anxious or worried, nor running helter skelter. It simply means you: have handed the problems to God, are standing on His promises, your spirit is quieted, and there is calmness in your soul.

If you are not resting, then you are wrestling – which involves toiling, struggling and exerting energy physically, mentally, or emotionally. Wrestling does not bring a solution; if anything, it worsens the problem, generates stress, and leads to ill health.

Notice that in the Bible verse above, peace only comes when we have given the problems over to God. When God has taken over the problems, then you can go to sleep (i.e. rest in Him) because you know it is in the hands of The One who is Omnipotent, Omniscient, and Omnipresent!

What is that problem that is eating you up? Have you forgotten that He who keeps you never sleeps or slumbers? Would you cease from your wrestling and rest in Him? Give up the struggles – for He cares for you.

Rest in Him – this is the only way for peace and survival in the storms of life. Ask God to give you the grace to stop wrestling with HIM, and rather start resting in HIM!
