ACTIVATING YOUR FAITH

Hosea 4: 6; Romans 10:17-18; Joshua 1:8; Romans 2:17

“This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success”.

It is common knowledge that faith has to be activated before it works. But the true meaning of activation in this context often eludes us. Head knowledge is different from practical knowledge – It is one thing to know that faith should be activated, it’s another thing to know how to do exactly that. In Hosea 4: 6, the Bible states that people perish for lack of knowledge – and I’m tempted to believe this verse not only refers to knowledge of facts but also knowledge of methods.

So come along, and let’s explore how to exactly activate our faith in any given situation.

Know what you believe: The Bible states that faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. The word of God is a shield and sword in any given situation – so find a word (with the help of the Holy Spirit) that addresses that specific situation. Take time to read and research further into the meaning of that scriptural verse (s). Ask the Holy Spirit for insights/revelation of that word, and how it addresses the situation in hand.

Meditate on what you believe: This process of meditation allows that scripture to sink deep into the subconscious, and becomes ingrained. Reflect on this scripture (you are standing on), and personalize it over and over again until it takes root in your heart. In Joshua 1:8 the Bible says to meditate on it day and night. Let your conviction be influenced and shaped by the truth of this word.

Act on what you believe:  If you have gone through the above steps – that is, you’ve received (and researched the meaning) a word from the Holy Spirit, and have meditated on it until it’s now a part of you, then, the only thing left to do is to stand on that word! Act on it – take action – do something that demonstrate you believe it. And when the fiery darts of doubts, fear, oppositions, threats arise, do not give in or back down, keep standing on that word!

This is how to activate your faith in any given situation.
