A LIFE WORTH LIVING

Esther 4: 14 ; Psalm 103: 15-16 ; James 1: 11 ; Job 14: 2

Let the lowly brother glory in his exaltation, 10 but the rich in his humiliation, because as a flower of the field he will pass away. 11 For no sooner has the sun risen with a burning heat than it withers the grass; its flower falls, and its beautiful appearance perishes. So the rich man also will fade away in his pursuits.

It is typical of life that birth occurs, growth happens, and death concludes the scene. Throughout the changing scenes of life, these three occurrences are constant, and inevitable in any kingdom – whether plant or animal.  We do not have control over these three major incidents; they are sure to take place in each life as directed or permitted by the sovereign God.

Further analyzing the birth, growth, and death incidents, we cannot make contributions to when our life starts, how fast (or slow) growth happens, or even when we have to exit this world. However, God has allowed us an extremely vital decision (which sadly is most often ignored) – and this is the decision on ‘how we spend our lives in the growth phase’.

It’s in the growth phase impacts are made, our destiny is accomplished, and eternity is secured (in a nutshell). Once this phase runs out, there is no more time – this is how critical it is to live this phase well! Most people are in this phase already; but sadly have allowed the temporal and infinitesimal affairs of life to overshadow substantial matters.

What are you living for? Take a moment to ponder on this thought provoking question. There is a reason why you were born; and still on this side of eternity. If you think the sole purpose is just to work, earn a living, be merry, and love some few family members, then think again! There’s got to be something more!

Something weightier than the mundane things of life, something that transcends the ordinary day-to-day living, something that will last when life is over, something that counts in eternity.

It starts with making peace with your maker. Then lay hold on that something more – a greater purpose to which you have been called. Be intentional in how you live – make every day worthwhile, and every moment count for eternity. This is a life worth living!
