Philippians 2: 9-11 ; John 14:13-14 ; Matthew 28:18 ; Mark 16:17
“Therefore, God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, 10 so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father”.
The name of Jesus affords us a great privilege we are often not aware of. When we call on the name of Jesus (in any situation) with reverence and fear, we invoke the power and authority of God’s kingdom. The Bible states that there is no other name given unto men by which we must be saved (Acts 4: 12). The name of Jesus makes tremendous power available.
The Bible declares that all power is given unto Jesus, in heaven and in earth. Inherent in the name of Jesus is the ultimate authority over any situation (or the power of darkness). Sicknesses, diseases, demons, death, etc. bow before that name; they willingly submit themselves to the Lordship, and power in the name of Jesus. No other authority is equal, or above the name of Jesus.
Here is an interesting insight – when we call on the name of Jesus, we invoke all that is associated with Him; His character, nature, abilities, and prowess. As a matter of fact, calling the name of Jesus appeals to the government of God’s kingdom; and their intervention in any given situation or circumstance.
“God has highly exalted Jesus, and given Him a name which is above every name”; thus the name of Jesus is an honor conferred on Him by God the Father as a response to Jesus’ obedience to the death of the cross. We have this assurance from God’s word that whatever we ask in that name will be done (because we entreat the covenant between Jesus and His Father), so that the Father is glorified in the Son.
Wow, this is a blank cheque freely offered to us! All that is required is to ask in faith, fully confident in the efficacy of the name – Jesus.
