Micah 6:8 ; Proverbs 19: 21, 22 ; Isaiah 55: 8-9 ; Romans 11: 33-36 ; Jeremiah 29:11
“For My thoughts are not your thoughts, n or are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. 9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts”.
”Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! For of Him and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be glory forever”. Amen.
In literal terms, absolute trust means complete and total trust in God. The subject of absolute trust in God is one that has plagued a majority of us. It is a deep seated issue, and a long standing one. Even more interesting is the fact that most people mistake absolute trust for no (or partial) trust.
If we confess absolute trust in God, our actions and emotions must reflect so; that is, must be in alignment with our confession. Our behavior and attitude should be in congruence with our profession; and this will reflect in different areas of our lives.
So what does it mean to trust God completely or whole heartedly? Come with me as we explore three areas of our relationship with God in answer to this question:
Absolute trust in God means we respect His decisions regarding any aspect of our lives. This means we are comfortable with God’s decisions even if they are contrary to our own will. We are willing to accept it whole heartedly, without murmur or complain, knowing that His ways are higher than ours; and that He will do the very best for us even when it doesn’t feel or look like it.
Absolute trust in God means we trust His timing as it relates to answering our prayers. We will patiently wait for His timing in the things we want Him to do for us. While we could ask questions, we cannot question Him. Trusting Him means we are truly content with the fact that He’ll make all things beautiful in due time.
Absolute trust in God means we embrace His methods for achieving His purposes in our lives. Meaning we do not doubt God’s process (or His ways) even if it seems illogical or unfair from our own limited perspective. We are fully confident in His love, and ability to handle every detail of our life. The truth is that God sees the full picture of any situation, and He has a beautiful plan for our lives; so we should be comfortable giving him full control.
In a nutshell, absolute trust does not challenge God’s decisions, His timing, or His methods. Absolute trust does not always demand an explanation from God for every unpleasant situation we face. Absolute trust is satisfied with whatever God does, however He does it, and whenever He does it!
Reflect on your relationship with God so far – are you trusting Him completely and whole heartedly?
