John 15: 5-6
5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.
God used the analogy of a plugged in cable to teach me an object lesson. Imagine a cable (or a cord) plugged into a power source, the attached equipment (or device) continues to receive power as long as the cable is plugged in; consequently, the equipment (or device) is able to function as designed due to the power source.
The point here is that every device has a port (or USB) through which it must receive power in order to remain functional; when it’s not connected to the power outlet, it becomes a question of few hours before the device dies and ceases to function. An equipment (e.g. vacuum cleaner, fridge, microwave, washer, etc.) will not even function if the power cord is unplugged from the power outlet.
Where am I going with this? In our Christian life, God is our power source, and we must stay connected at all times, for without HIM we can do nothing! HE is the vine, and we are the branches; a branch disconnected from the tree withers away very quickly.
In the hustles and bustles of life, it is necessary to ensure a connection every morning, and stay plugged in throughout the day. Despite our busy schedules, we must make time to pray, study God’s word, and spend time with HIM.
If you are getting discouraged in life, or feeling overwhelmed, depressed, anxious, worried, easily irritated, fearful, or stressed out, then check your connection – maybe your cable is disconnected from the power source. When we go to God each morning, HE empowers our soul, refreshes our Spirit, and gives us grace even in hard places.
The only way we can receive continuous power to function effectively as “designed” is so stay plugged in.
