Isaiah 9: 6-9; Proverbs 3: 5-8; Psalm 37: 5
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct[a] your paths. 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and depart from evil. 8 It will be health to your flesh, and strength to your bones”.
“Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass”.
Visions, dreams, missions, goals, etc., are all endeavors that will characterize this year, just like any other year. Visionaries may expand their horizon, or simply labor on current dreams. Some other people may have huge, or little tasks from various assignments awaiting accomplishments – could be political, religious, commercial, academic, etc.
New dreams may have been birthed either to change the world, city, community, or just aimed at changing oneself – the little light in a corner. Whatever the case, the point is that many people have plans to achieve something, or fulfil a purpose this year. However, just before we get neck deep into our endeavors for this year, let us consider this salient point worthy of note.
Take your eyes off whatever task lies ahead of you (vision, mission, dreams, etc.), and place it on God. While we might not realize this, most times, we fall prey to the common thinking that we are going to get it done by our own strength (or skills) – though unintended, we ask and speak as though we are absolutely capable. Permit me to make this clear – it’s only by the Spirit of God that we can possibly achieve anything this year!
The doors are going to open by favor, the opportunities are going to come by divine connection, the breakthroughs are going to be obtained by heaven’s intervention; so take your eyes off man, and place it on God who does not fail or change.
While the message in this article is not a license to get lazy, or just fold our hands and do nothing, it is however an encouragement to involve God in all we do; it’s a reminder to commit our ways/plans into His able hands. It is required of us to ‘plant the seeds’, that is do all that is necessary and expected of us, after which we must turn our eyes on Jesus, and place all our hopes on Him.
So whatever tasks or endeavors lie ahead of you this year, remember it is only through the Spirit of God it can be accomplished – keep this point in view, it is only God that can water the seeds you have planted, and bring about your desired harvest.
