Hebrews 10: 23; Romans 10: 2; Proverbs 4: 23
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.
From an anecdotal point of view, it is evident that our response to situations and the experiences of life is not congruent with our profession as Christians. In order words what we believe (about God’s word or promises) is not manifest in the manner we approach (or respond to) the problem. It is possible to have ‘head knowledge” of God’s word, without it sinking deep as ‘heart knowledge’.
For instance, when faced with a situation of lack or need; we believe it when the Bible says my God shall supply all your needs according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4: 19). However, this belief is not portrayed in our actions, as our behavior is riddled with fear, worry, and anxiety. The reality is that we do not truly believe – this verse to us is just head knowledge and not a heart knowledge!
The true test of our belief must be apparent in the manner we respond to the situation. The slightest manifest of fear, doubt, worry, or and/or anxiety reveals the fact that we are operating on head knowledge only. This revelation begs the need for a reality check, to ensure we truly believe. If we allow the truth of this verse (or any other promise in the bible) to sink deep and take roots in our heart, then we move from head knowledge to heart knowledge – this comes by meditation, prayers, and application!
We need to move from head knowledge to heart knowledge. And a good place to start is a reality check. Evaluate or analyze your responses to situations that have faced you in the last couple of months. What do your responses portray? What does your behavior reveal? Are your actions congruent with your profession? Is your conduct aligned with your confession?
You need a reality check today!
