CHECK YOUR PRICE TAG

John 3:16; Ephesian 2: 4-5; Galatians 3: 13-15

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

A price tag is a label placed on an item that indicates the selling price of that merchandise. This is the price for which the manufacturer or seller is willing to trade that item for monetary gain.

A price tag reflects the value of the goods or items; so they greater the value of the item, the higher the price. This is why a diamond ring is far more expensive than a silver clock, because a diamond is much more valuable than a clock; and so their price tags are miles apart.

Every item has a residual value that determines its price, including human beings – although we do not necessarily wear the label of that price tag, we certainly carry a residual value that cannot be quantified. The only way we can begin to comprehend our value, or price tag is to consider what Jesus did for us on the cross of Calvary.

Just stop and ponder on this for a little while – what was God willing to pay to redeem us back to Himself? God considers us a gem of inestimable value to such an extent He was willing to pay for us, not with money, but with the life of His One and precious Son – Jesus Christ!

No legal tender, or money was good enough to purchase you or me, it had to be the priceless blood of Jesus Christ – this is mind blowing! We are priceless not because of any value of our own, but because of the value God has placed on us; He gave a priceless gift to purchase us – that’s how much we are worth in His eyes!

So when feelings of worthlessness, inferiority, insignificance, etc. arise in your thoughts; check your price tag – remind yourself that you are more precious than a gold on a thousand hills. The death of Christ has made you valuable, superior, and significant. Therefore, discharge those thoughts with this statement, ‘I am not cheap; I am precious in His sight – My prices tag is priceless!’.

In this lent season, reminisce on what God was willing to give in order to purchase you, and just thank Him for this great price He paid.

He has made you priceless!
