Exodus 6: 3; Isaiah 12: 2; 26: 4; Jeremiah 33:3 ; Psalm 68: 4; Psalm 105: 1-7
“Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; ‘For Yah, the Lord, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation”.
“Trust in the Lord forever, for in YAH, the Lord, is everlasting strength”.
God has been called by several names in the ancient Hebrew language; and each name represents or reflects a component of His attributes, character, sovereignty, or greatness. El Shaddai, Elohim, Adonai, El Roi, Elyon, just to mention a few. However, no other name brings such glory, majesty, sacredness, honor, splendor, grandeur, and reverence as the name Jehovah.
The name Jehovah is a notable/significant name of God; not only an appellation or title such as ‘Alpha’ or ‘Omega’. It is considered the holiest name in the Hebrew language – so sacred it was never written or spoken. The name Jehovah is believed to have emerged from the word YWHW, otherwise spelled as YAH-WAY. It means ‘I am that I am’, or ‘I am who I am’.
I would dare say, this name Jehovah, encompasses most of God’s attributes in different dimensions. Jehovah Jireh – is the Lord our provider; Jehovah Shalom – is the Lord our peace; Jehovah Tsidkenu – is the Lord our righteousness; Jehovah Nissi – is the Lord our banner; Jehovah Rapha – is the Lord our healer; Jehovah Shammah – is our Lord is there; Jehovah Sabaoth – the Lord of Hosts, and so on, and so forth.
The Bible says to call upon God in the day of trouble, and He will show us great and mighty things! So call Him Jehovah Jireh when faced with lack, and the needs seem to be overwhelming – He will provide in ways unimaginable because His supplies never run dry. Call Him Jehovah Shalom when your soul is tossed up and down by the waves of emotional turmoil – He will calm the storm because even the waves obey His voice. Call Him Jehovah Rapha when your body is infested with sickness and disease – He will come down on healing wings and dispel every trace of sickness from your system.
However, you can also call Him in worship (not only when faced with troubles). The Bible says we should extol Him who rides upon the heavens by His name JEHOVAH. So magnify His great name for who He is; for His mighty deeds, and wondrous works!
