A BILL OF TRUST

Ephesians 4: 1-3

“I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace”.

A popular song goes like this: “Behold what manner of love the Father has given unto us… that we should be called the sons of God”. For the purpose of this article, I would modify the song to read thus: “Behold what manner of trust the Father has bestowed upon us… that we should be co-laborers in His kingdom”.

You will concur that human beings are far from perfection. As a matter of fact, we are plagued by various shortcomings, weaknesses, and errors. However, an intriguing observation is that God has esteemed us highly (despite our shortfalls) by entrusting the affairs of His kingdom here on earth into our hands; we are mandated to go into all the world and preach the Gospel – this is such a high calling!

Jesus laid the foundation of this commission on the cross, by His death. We are therefore co-laborers with the Trinity in the affairs of the kingdom, to win souls, intercede for people, disciple others, and generally fulfill God’s purpose here on earth –this is the heart of the Father.

God signed a great bill of trust when He entrusted every aspect of building His kingdom here on earth into our care. The onus is on us to not betray that trust, but live worthy of the calling to which we have been called. It takes longsuffering, patience, endurance, commitment, and discipline.

Have you live up to this great trust? Have you walked worthy of it? Are there some amendments you need to make? Kindly reflect of this thought provoking questions today.
