Joshua 10: 13-14 ; Daniel 11: 32
13 And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.14 And there was no day like that before it or after it, that the Lord hearkened unto the voice of a man: for the Lord fought for Israel.
Through the sands of time, over and over again, God has proved faithful to those who choose to trust, and take Him at His word. When faced with difficulties (e.g. sickness, lack, etc.), God is esteemed very lightly when we choose fear over faith, anxiety (or worry) over trust, or panic over calmness. God responds to the level of faith with which we approach Him.
Believing in the abilities of God will invoke positive results because He will always honor His word, and reward your faith. On the other hand, running to other sources for help – rather than God – is a sign of distrust/unbelief, and will cause Him to withdraw from the situation.
Joshua dared to exhibit a significant amount of faith in God when he commanded the sun and moon to stand still; and God was faithful in executing that command! As a matter of fact, the Bible states there was no other time God heeded the voice of man like He did for Joshua – and this was not by any act of favoritism; but simply because Joshua dared to prove God in such a significant manner!
The Bible is full of other people who dared to prove God – the woman with the issue of blood demonstrated such great faith when she only touched the helm of Jesus’ garment; prior to that, there was no precedent that such an action would bring healing to her long seated illness. But God came through for her when she dared to prove Him.
God’s ability is not in question here; the truth is that we (most times) are unwilling to risk the necessary faith for a truly rewarding and worthwhile experience. I encourage you to prove God in whatever situation you find yourself. Take Him at His word; stand on His promises. Dare to have a greater faith in Him, dare to trust Him more.
Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus,
Just to take Him at His Word;
Just to rest upon His promise,
And to know, “Thus saith the Lord!”
Refrain:
Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er;
Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus!
Oh, for grace to trust Him more!
