Simon’s Testimony
Revelation 12:11 says, “And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death.” (NKJV).
When you tell your story of how God has worked a miracle in your life, or how he has blessed you, transformed you, lifted and encouraged you, perhaps even healed you, no one can argue or debate it. When you share your testimony, you go beyond the realm of knowledge into the realm of relationship with God.
To give a little background, I am a fairly new Christian, I was saved in 2013 and baptized in the same year. Since then I have been working on establishing my own personal relationship with God, and yes I have had my ups and downs like many of us. I know and understand even more now; how the hand of God has always been in my life guiding and protecting me. This compels me to share my testimony, how God has worked a miracle in my life.
The year was 2016 in the month of March. I was involved in some physical activity (running) when I heard a sudden “pop” in my right foot, like a rubber band snapping. It was very painful and I dropped to the ground. Instantly I knew something was wrong, it was painful and I could hardly stand up on my own foot. I was out of the country at the time and visited with an ER doctor who examined my foot and told me to ice it and take ibuprofen for the pain and inflammation. I followed the advice of the medical practitioner hoping that my foot would heal and get better. The pain and swelling decreased yes, however, I still had much trouble putting any weight, and walking on the injured right foot. About 2-3 months later I returned to the country, and decided to see a doctor here. An ultrasound was immediately ordered, and it revealed an almost complete tear of the right achilles tendon. My appointment to see an Orthopedic surgeon was expedited. During that visit the surgeon explained to me the severity of the issue and that a flexor hallucis longus (FHL) tendon transfer would be necessary to treat this condition. The tendon is excised either medially or laterally and transferred into a bone tunnel in the calcaneus bone. This surgery involves the tendon being screwed into the bone, then a physical therapy subsequent to recovery from the surgery. I was very anxious, nervous, and worried upon hearing this news. Later that day I broke the news to my family, it started to sink in that surgery would be necessary. Because the waiting list for surgeries was so long, I booked my surgery when the first slot was available in early November. I had prior commitments outside the country, so I again left the country and waited for November to come.
Now during this difficult period in my life, I turned to God and started praying for healing. My mother maintained such a powerful faith and kept insisting that God will heal my foot within a year of the incident and I will not have to go through surgery. I received prayers of healing from various church groups. This really helped to lift my spirit, gave me hope, and strengthened my faith. Even with my faith increased, I still maintained in my mind that surgery was a necessity. November was soon approaching, my foot was feeling a little bit better, but I still was unable to push off my right leg with any weight. I opted to wait and have the surgery rescheduled for a later date. (In retrospect, God had a plan all along.) In the months following, I went about my life in some discomfort, not really paying attention to my foot, but still praying for healing.
In March of 2017, almost a year to the day of my injury, my mother messaged me, “Your foot is healed in Jesus’ name, let me know, how s it feels?” I thought to myself, what a faithful woman of God my mother is, I am blessed. Still hesitant, I put some weight on my right foot and tried to push off. It worked! I thought to myself; hold on, what is happening? I started jumping around moving side to side, I was astonished! You have to remember for a year now this was not possible, I was diagnosed with an almost complete achilles tear, I was supposed to go in for surgery, a screw was to be inserted into my bone, how could this be? And the timeline, just like my mother predicted within a year. I just fell to the ground and started crying and praising God. I didn’t know what else to do at that moment. The spirit of God just overwhelmed me at that point, and I just kept thanking God for this miracle! Even now as I write this testimony and think back, I am so grateful for this miracle that God performed in my life. I have so much faith in my God, the one and only true living God. The Lord is my light and salvation! The Lord is the stronghold of my life!
Jeremiah 30:17, ” For I will restore health to you and heal you of your wounds, says the Lord, because they called you an outcast saying: This is Zion; No one seeks her.” (NKJV)
I went back to my doctor for a follow up ultrasound of my right achilles tendon. I was very interested in seeing the results of this test now, as it had been one year since the initial ultrasound. When the test results came in it showed an almost full recovery of the right achilles tendon, just a partial tear now surrounded with scarring tissue and still getting better! The radiologist came in himself and asked to examine my foot. He said to me, “did you have a foot or any surgery done for repair?” I replied, “No, and it feels great, even better than before!” He was stunned and maintained that it was possible the first ultrasound done a year ago was read wrong and it wasn’t as severe as we first thought. I immediately understood the doctor’s reasoning, how could such a severe injury be healed with no medical intervention? The answer my brothers and sisters is the power of God. All glory goes to God!
Revelation 1:8, ” I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, says the Lord, who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.” (NKJV)
AMEN. This is my testimony.
