WHAT WOULD YOU CHANGE?

Proverbs 4: 18;  Phillipians 2:15

15 that you may become blameless and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, 16 holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain”.

At different times in life, people are faced with situations (or things) they are unsatisfied/unhappy with. It could be in their professional life, spiritual life, or personal life.

A lot of people give in to complaints – talking and whining about the issues, without seeming to do anything that could change the situation. Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result is the simplest definition of insanity!

While some things are beyond our control, some other things are within our realm of influence. It is necessary to identify the issues, circumstances, or situations within our control, so that we can influence a positive change.

Usually, at the beginning of a new year, people renew their commitment (or simply make new ones) to certain resolutions for a better and healthier life – it could be a commitment to healthy living, professional development, social development, skill enhancement, etc. However, as the year progresses, the resolutions quickly die due to lack of follow through!

The first step is to make those commitments, but the next step is to ‘walk the talk’ – in other words, effect the necessary changes that would bring about your desired results.

In this new year, let me provoke you with these thoughts – what will you change to be a better wife, husband, Christian, business man/woman, pastor, leader, musician, teacher, etc.? What efforts are you willing to invest to make yourself better – in whatever role you occupy in life?  What would you do differently to live a healthier/more satisfied life?

As a new-year gift to you, I will sign off with these basic principles for effecting a desired change in any area of your life. For each change you deem necessary, follow these principles below and turn your wish into reality!

  • Identify Required Changes (write it down)
  • Make Specific Resolutions
  • Map Out a Workable Plan
  • Effect the Changes (i.e. follow through)
  • Celebrate Your Achievement(s)

Happy New Year!
