KINGDOM MINDEDNESS

John 7: 16-18

16 Jesus[a] answered them and said, “My doctrine is not Mine, but His who sent Me. 17 If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak on My own authority. 18 He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who seeks the glory of the One who sent Him is true, and no unrighteousness is in Him.

During Jesus’ earthly ministry, it was obvious HE was very mindful of HIS Father’s business. HE had an undeniable love for the things of God. The Father’s business so consumed HIM that HE sought nothing of HIS own; HIS will, interest, and desires were all surrendered to God’s mission.

Kingdom mindedness, in this context, is being so committed to the things of God that it controls everything we do in life! When we are kingdom minded, our zeal, interests, desires, will, endeavors, and pursuits will all be aligned with the things that promote Christ’s kingdom. Even the way we dress, talk, conduct ourselves, etc. will reflect Christ.

To be kingdom minded is to do things through the lens of God’s kingdom; with heaven in perspective, and to obtain outcomes that would directly or indirectly impact God’s kingdom positively. It is about furthering God’s purpose for mankind. In HIS earthly ministry, Jesus exemplified such a lifestyle through various acts as recorded in the Bible.

Are you kingdom minded? Do your endeavors, aspirations, and pursuits promote Christ? Is your will, desires, interests, etc. surrendered to the things of the kingdom? Does your lifestyle promote Christ? Is your purpose aligned with the Father’s business? Do you take decisions with heaven in view? Can others see Jesus in you?

Let us ask God for grace today to be kingdom minded in all we do!
