Mark 8:36-37

36 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? 37 Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?

The dictionary defines insurance as a practical arrangement by which a company or government provides a guarantee of compensation for specified loss, damage, illness, or death in return for payment of a premium. In a nut shell, insurance provides protection against a possible loss or eventuality.

Built on the framework of a ‘probability’, the immediate benefit of an insurance coverage is not readily apparent until there is either a loss or an eventuality – In such cases the minimal effort of a premium payment suddenly becomes colossal and cherished.

There are all kinds of insurance policies providing different coverages against accidents, death, and loss. Not everyone is quick to get a coverage, but insurance philosophers will argue that the minimal discomfort of premium payments is worth the relief of the coverage in case of a misfortune. Truth is that life is full of uncertainties; and while we cannot change this fact, we could at least do something to manage the impact if/ when it comes.

However, of utmost importance is a coverage I call ‘Life Insurance’ – not necessarily a coverage in the event of death, but rather, a protection in the case of eternity. The Bible states that the soul that sins will die (Ezekiel 18:20), and anyone not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire (Revelation 20:15). Of what eternal profit is it then that one is fully insured against the misfortunes of life, but ends up in a lost eternity

Folks, eternity is world without end, and you need to be fully ensured for the life after. Praise God, Jesus has paid the price for our eternity – He is our premium coverage. All you need to do is to accept Him, and He will offer you a life insurance for eternity. It will cost you nothing, except your sins.

Even if you doubt that there is heaven and hell – it does not change the fact that there is; and trust me you should not take that risk. Confess your sins today; invite Jesus into your life, in exchange for your sins, He will give you a life insurance that covers all of eternity!
