A BORROWED LIFE

Ephesians 2:10

10 “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them”.

God made us for a purpose. He had specific things in mind when HE created each individual. There are specific tasks God wants each of us to accomplish for HIM. This is why no two individuals are exactly the same-even identical twins, though similar in looks, have unique finger prints, characteristics, skills, and abilities.

One day, while reflecting on God’s word, I felt God say “do you know I created each individual for a specific purpose”? “I had something in mind when I created human beings” “I have an agenda I want each person to accomplish”. And I said “yes Lord”, and HE said “then why do you people run off with your own agenda when you come to earth as if you created yourselves; why are people not seeking to fulfill the reason for which I made them”? I had no answer for that, all I could say was “Lord, have mercy”.

That was a sobering moment for me. You see, every manufacturer has something in mind when a product is made; that product has been made to accomplish a purpose. There is a specific function the product is expected to perform. For instance, the microwave has been made to heat up food, the dish washer-to wash plates, the dryer-to dry clothes, the television-for entertainment/media, etc.

Now imagine how disappointed the manufacturer will be if the product does not function as intended; if the television fails to function, or if the micro wave decides it will no longer heat up food, but will dry clothes!

In our case, God is the manufacturer. HE has created us to accomplish certain tasks; and our first priority is to seek out what he wants to accomplish through us, and walk in alignment, so that HIS will is fulfilled in us.

Ours is a borrowed life, we did not decide to create ourselves, neither do we have a say on when we come to earth or depart from It-God decides. Therefore, let us seek to live a pleasing life to God, knowing that one day we would return our borrowed life, and give account for it.

Here I am, here I stand. Lord my life is in Your hands. Lord I’m longing to see, Your desires, revealed in me. I give myself away, I give myself away, so you can use me.
